How The Opportunity Came About

BBC researchers approached Talent Hub® on Friday 14 August, having read our blog article on job-hugging, and asked Liz to appear on BBC Business News the following Monday to discuss the trend on air. The short notice meant a weekend of preparation, but the opportunity was too good to turn down. It gave Talent Hub® the chance to discuss this emerging workplace phenomenon on a national platform, as well as valuable PR coverage for the business.

The LinkedIn Response

That was increased when we shared with our network on LinkedIn and to date it has had over 135,000 views, hundreds of new followers and appears to have sparked a debate around the topic of Job Hugging, as so many people seem to have a view and opinion on it. Even though many had not heard of it.

It's a progression from 'Quietly Quitting' that was a trend a few years ago.

What is Job-hugging

Job-hugging describes employees staying in their current role primarily for security, even when they feel unfulfilled or ready for a change. It marks a shift from job-hopping toward caution, and is often seen as a progression from quiet quitting, the trend that saw employees doing only the minimum required rather than leaving outright.
