Ecommerce Director

Burgess Hill £70,000 plus £10,000 bonus

A market leading retailer in a specialist field is now expanding their marketing team, with a key focus on digital marketing and online sales. This will be the most senior position in marketing, managing a team of five. The Ecommerce Director job is not only responsible for online sales, but also all aspects of digital marketing, including SEO, PPC, Affiliates, CRM and social media. Managing external agencies and also bringing some of the outsourced work in-house.

For the Ecommerce Director job, responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the company’s strategy for content development, maintaining an integrated online/offline marketing content calendar
  • Develop regular insightful analysis and reporting on web analytics and establish appropriate business plans as a result
  • Manage PPC strategy, including management of web agencies, focussed on understanding product-line profitability and ROI by product
  • Manage the organic SEO strategy including keyword selection and monitoring, and developing strategies to improve SERPS results
  • Develop a profitability business plan for working with appropriate affiliates
  • Review and analyse current performance of CRO (A/B testing, call to action, copy quality, heatmaps, colours etc.)
  • Managing the company’s existing social media presence, on Facebook, Twitter & Instagram and other new platforms as required
  • CRM - Producing regular informative email campaigns, analysing campaign performance, developing strategies for database list growth
  • Company website - development of the company desktop and mobile sites including content generation, technical development and site evolution, with insight into the purchase funnel and traffic drop-out points and strategies to remove buying hurdles

For this job you will have the following:

  • Worked in a similar ecommerce senior role for a UK retailer, ideally in higher end value consumer products
  • Developed and delivered ecommerce strategy successfully
  • Be educated to degree level in marketing or business management
  • Have a thorough understanding of all digital marketing formats and platforms
  • Be commercially driven and results oriented
  • Worked at director level and managed a team of 5+ people
  • Have extensive knowledge of SEO, PPC and CMS.
  • Proven success in delivering Digital Marketing campaigns and reaching sales targets online
  • Outstanding analytical skills, interpreting results and drawing conclusions
